Outline:

This module critically examines how multinational enterprises (MNEs) develop, sustain, and renew competitive advantage across diverse international contexts. It explores the strategic, institutional, and cultural complexities that shape global business operations, with particular attention to the challenges and opportunities arising from digital transformation, sustainability imperatives, and evolving geopolitical dynamics.

Through an integration of advanced theoretical frameworks, applied strategic analysis, and critical engagement with contemporary case studies, students will develop a sophisticated understanding of how global firms formulate and implement strategies in complex and uncertain environments. The module fosters the ability to analyse and evaluate strategic decisions from multiple perspectives, integrating insights from international management and global strategy. By the end of the module, students will have enhanced their strategic, intercultural, and analytical competencies, equipping them to respond creatively and responsibly to the strategic challenges facing firms competing in dynamic global markets.

ILO2: Critically evaluate a comprehensive body of knowledge from multiple and disparate sources, including academic research, industry reports, and case studies, to inform strategic decision-making.
